Songs of a Lost World ended a sixteen-year wait for a new Cure studio album and returned the band to the top of the UK chart.
The Cure released Songs of a Lost World on 1 November 2024, their first studio album since 4:13 Dream in 2008.
Robert Smith shaped the record around a dark, expansive sound that had already been introduced during the band’s concerts. The finished album gives those songs a focused home and reconnects the group’s atmospheric side with a modern production.
Its arrival became one of the most significant returns by an established 1980s band, bringing The Cure back to the centre of the album conversation rather than relying on catalogue nostalgia.
